Wednesday we climbed the Boquet Cliffs, about a six mile hike mostly on a faint herd path. Looks like it will be good climbing when it fills in with ice. Thursday was our big day going nearly 14 miles in microspikes, snowshoes and crampons up and down the finger slides on the west side of Dix. We never actually roped up, but we did bring all our climbing gear. Diet trip! Friday we climbed Deer Brook Falls in two long pitches.

Fun trip. Everything we did was scouting for the COE ADK Ice and ADK Mountaineering classes.

Unfortunately, this happened on both feet in the first mile of the first day. (Category: Ice Climbing)

What the Adirondacks lacks in tall, dramatic mountains, it makes up for in long, arduous approaches.

Postholing up to my thigh WHILE WEARING SNOWSHOES! (Category: Ice Climbing)

Frightening! Which is what Rob says before he plunges through the ice.
