My new camera! After three years and 10,000 photos, my Canon S2 IS died. After two days of non-stop research, I decided to replace it with the Canon SX110. Like the S2 IS, it has a large optical zoom, manual mode and uses AA batteries. The SX110 does not have a rotating LCD or a separate viewfinder and its two AA batteries will probably not last as long as the four batteries in the S2 IS. The SX110 is more compact and about half the weight. Also, it has an internal lens cover instead of the external cover that drove me crazy on the S2 IS.

UPS dropped off the camera about two minutes before I had to leave for campus, so I grabbed some batteries and an SD card and started walking. Ran into Hailey and I had to share my excitement with her. Just as the light was getting nice, I took the first picture with my new camera. An auspicious start! Out of courtesy, I won't show the last picture I took with my old S2 IS, since clearly that shot of Emily broke my camera :-)
