Rock Climbing --- 9/1/2008 --- Gunks

Day trip to the Gunks with Katie and Mike. We started the day with Son of Easy O. Then went to climb Rusty Trifle, but I ended the traverse too early and climbed Rock and Brew instead, linking the first two 5.8+ pitches to the GT ledge. This is actually a really sweet climb. Highly recommended. We rappelled from the GT ledge using the Rusty Trifle anchors, so maybe I'll find that climb next time. Then Mike led Drunkard's Delight and Katie followed it. We set an anchor near the tree at the start of the scrunchy Bloody Mary traverse, and we used that anchor to toprope the really hard face just left of Morning After. A bit contrived, but very fun. Felt like 5.11 as long as you didn't stray on to easier holds. Next I climbed the first pitch of Morning After to clean our TR anchor.

Mike was tired of climbing and decided to go bouldering :-) while Katie and I climbed Fancy Idiot just right of Bunny. I was very excited to get three new climbs in for the day. That doesn't happen very often at the Gunks.
