Rock Climbing --- 4/14/2007 --- Gunks
Went to the Gunks with Aramy, Keith, Kenny and Shawn. Aramy and I climbed trad while the others spent the day bouldering. Our first climb was Modern Times, which Aramy had bailed on the last time he attempted it. I led the wet first pitch. Then Aramy led the money pitch. He sent it easily.
After that we went to Erect Direction and climbed the 5.8 first pitch. It was awkward and surprisingly hard to protect given that it follows a vertical crack the entire way. But the crack flares and there is lots of loose rock. Otherwise it is a fun climb.
Next we went to climb Arrow and Aramy led both pitches. A nice classic which I hadn't climbed in several years. We finished the day on Raubenheimer Special (5.7) and I linked both pitches in a 185' stretch to the top. The balance moves just before the crux are the highlight of this route.
After we finished I continued to Connecticut to spend a few days with my family. Don't have a whole lot of pictures from the day because, as Aramy says, "We are here to climb!"
