Backpacking --- 5/26/2001 - 5/29/2001 --- Shenandoah National Park, VA
Backpacking in Shenandoah National Park. Started at the Brown Mountain Overlook (Skyline mile marker 76.9). Hiked Brown Mountain Trail to Rockytop Trail. Spent the night (without enough water) up on the Rockytop ridge. Came down to the Austin Mountain Trail, then to Big Run Trail. Passed through a beautiful grove of huge old Tulip Poplar, then established camp early at an amazing site on the bank of Big Run. Final day we took Big Run Portal Trail to Rocky Mountain Run Trail to Brown Mountain Trail and back to the car.
